About the Artist.

Al-x T-man is an extremely passionate generative artist and software engineer. When it comes to generative graphics there aren’t many people who are pushing the limits like Al-x. His passion for software is only matched by his passion for art. The joining of these passions formed a catalyst for creative expression through audio-reactive, real-time generative graphics.

The term Psybernautics was coined to encapsulate Al-x’s studies in generative computer graphics and the beautiful works of art resulting from such endeavors. Psybernautics is the study or exploration of the intersection psychedelic and cyber space.

He credits his ability to create complex generative systems with his deep understanding of computational mathematics and computer science theory. Al-x received a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science with a concentration in Videogame Design and Development from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 2015.

Al-x has worn many hats across a variety of sectors in the software industry. He spent the better half of a decade serving as a back-end engineer focused on supporting a federal accounting and finance suite built utilizing C++ and Java. In 2018, he formed Logical Software Development, a freelance software development and consulting company. At Logical Al-x further improved his skills with web-based technologies. Building out several complex systems for clients utilizing the MERN stack and python.

Al-x began pursuing creative coding in 2019. His first published project was an interactive art website known as Psyberdelic Playground. Al-x had not fully discovered the deep culture and tools associated with creative coding at the time, thus the website was built using raw CSS and JavaScript. Little did he know that this project would carve the path to his journey into Psybernautics.

On March 12, 2020, thanks to significant encouragement from his dear friend ZiP, Al-x began studying The Book of Shaders and graphics programming. He quickly excelled in his studies, creating several complex fragment-shader programs within a few months. Al-x started using Synesthesia.live to compile his fragment-shader programs as a means to make them audio-reactive.

Al-x went onto release and continues to release several original scenes in Synesthesia’s marketplace.

Al-x began performing live visuals with his Synesthesia scenes in 2021 under the pseudonym Psybernautics. He has performed across several festivals such as Circus of Life (NY), Sol Fest (AL), Sonic Bloom (CO), Sound Haven (TN), Secret Dreams (OH), and Submersion (NJ).

He has provided mind-melting visual support for several artists such as Mad Zach, Cool Customer, The Scientist, Mungo’s Hi Fi, Kursa, K.L.O., Mike Wallis, cHLL sMth, Luke Vibert, Yheti, Toadface, VCTRE, Fly, and many more…

The future is bright for Al-x and the Psybernautics project. While he continues to push the boundaries of the mind with shader programming, he has also begun developing interactive and digital systems using TouchDesigner. He is only limited by his imagination and is excited share as he continues to explore the psychedelic generative world.
